Basically it's a cycling circus at its finest. Something the road riders did and do in the off season.
Over 6 days, there is a GC of rider couples. The main goal is to get a lap on the other couples. If couples finish equal, points are taken into account, which are won by sprints. Points and laps can be gained over all the various events across the 6 days. Each day there is a buttload of events, usually they last 30 minutes to one hour.
In this case, you saw Keisse/Terpstra going for a lap instead of going for points in the last race. They conserved their energy in the sprints and managed to get a lap on the others to get the win.
So that's why they were celebrating before it was over, because they knew the others couldn't get a lap on them in the time remaining?
