PCM Kicker Lite by Impish
CAUTION! It's highly recommended that you quote the author of this guide and the URL of this site if you're going to copy this one into your own site. The products given here are not responsibility of this site, and you use the downloads as well as these guides at your own risk, so don't complain to us!
If you want to handle PCM Kicker correctly you should try the Database Convertors (see our Discussion Forums, Databases subforum) and you'll also need to know the working of Microsoft Office programs. Besides, you must have your own copy of Microsoft Office correctly installed and properly working.
Where to download it?
Click on the download link above to access to the download. The files on the .rar file you get must be unpacked into the folder called x:\PCM Kicker (where x:\ is your main HDD). The .ocx and .dll files included in this package must be copied and pasted into the folders WINDOWS/system and WINDOWS/system32.
How to use it?
When you have finished the installing process, then you're able to enter the program. The general showcase looks like the image below...
We have two buttons at the top of the chart: Import and Export. Let's start working taking a look at the first one.
We have some differente options at the left side of the program. At first we must create a new workspace, in other words, a group of DB hexagesimal extractions that allow us to edit all tables inside the DB; but that's not important. What really is it is to click on the button called Create New Workspace, and then a dialog box will be open to enter the name of our workspace (you needn't introduce a certain name, you only need to remind it where you have some of them) and to click Enter.
Then you must select the Database on the left side option Open Database. When you've found and selected it, you must wait a couple of seconds before pushing OK on the box which has appeared. The program will take some seconds to load all tables inside the DB and then it'll allow you to kepp working.
You will find now all tables of the DB, but the most important tables, and which you normally will use, are explained below. Let's click Create Access Database now to be able to import tables to the Access DB. If you only want to import a certain table (for instance, DYN_cyclist for riders into the DB), just search for it, left-click it and then select the option Import selected to access.mdb on the bottom. ,If you want all tables, just click Import all to access.mdb.
On your Kicker's folder Data/my DB (where ''my DB'' is the name of the workspace) an Access DB will be acreated and there is all you need to edit your DB, but you'll only find information in exported tables. Here I give you a list with the most important tables and their uses:
Table
| What we're going to find here... | | DYN_contract_cyclist | To change all data of cyclist contracts.
| | DYN_cyclist | To change all parameters of cyclists. Stats are really more interesting to be edited with convertors of normal editors.
| | DYN_secondary_sponsor | To edit all info about Secondary Sponsors.
| | DYN_staff | For editing everything about trainers, doctors and such stuff.
| | DYN_team | To edit all info about teams. You should use other editors for budgets.
| | STA_country | To activate other countries or champion jerseys from some countries and to select some info about the Worlds.
| | STA_division | As it seems.
| | STA_licenced_string | It's used to change team names when looking at XLS classification files and the name you'll get when selecting the material for a team, near the cyclists you selected.
| | STA_newrider_area | Different areas in which you can scout riders abe able to be edited here.
| | STA_newrider_firstname | As it sounds.
| | STA_newrider_lastname | Any doubts here?
| | STA_race | To add new entries to that table in which you can edit all parameters for races. It's STRONGLY recommended to use convertors here. If you extract it with convertors, you should rebuild the invitationslist (all that numbers which appear between the symbols this sentence is...)
| | STA_stage | As the previous tables says, but applied to the stages of the game.
| | STA_UCI_bonus | Here you can edit the scores you get when achieving a certain position at a certain race category...
| | STA_UCI_class | To edit differente kinds of race categories.
| | STA_equipment | To edit the material you select before playing.
| | STA_formated_string | To edit complete sentences of the game.
| | STA_localized_string | To edit words.
| | STA_objectif_sponsor | All poosible team objectives.
| | STA_objectif_sponsor_info | To edit team objectives.
| | STA_objectif_type | This table explains different kinds of objectives you can put on the previous table.
|
Besides, you'll find this year an utility which is called Invitation Editor. It allows you to edit the invitation lists. It's very useful but risky, and we advice you to better use convertors. You need to have the table STA_race imported before clicking on it.
Export
When we have edited what we wanted, and we now want to get the result into a new DB, we must elect the second option at the top: Export. You'll just have to select the table or tables you've edited, click Update Table for Cyanide Database, and then click Create New Cyanide Database (*.cdb). It will take you some time, but, when the process is completed, you'll be able to catch your DB and use it. The DB we've created is into the CDB Kicker folder.
